In February, Reed College graduate and Pulitzer nominated playwright Lee Blessing brings his peculiar take on love to Readers Theatre Repertory with Riches, directed by Matthew Martin.
In an intimate evening themed “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” Blessing’s characters engage in pitched battle — whether in the grips of carnivorous desire or passionate rage. “And all the while,” says Martin, “they’re struggling to remember who they were to each other so many years ago… when they first fell in love.”
Martin says the one-act makes an interesting Valentines weekend “date night,” for new couples and longtime partners. “Blessing is all about the richness in relationship, and the price we all pay for it,” Martin says. “This show will inspire some good conversations over wine afterward!”
Thomas Nabhan and Jill Westerby make up the cast.
