On May 12th and 13th 2006, Readers Theater Repertory will conclude its fifth season withThe Gods are Definitely Crazy, featuring the hilarious satire God, by Woody Allen.
Directed by Bob Martin, the evening is a part of MythFest: A collaborative celebration of myth. The festival is the brainchild of Blackfish Gallery, Classic Greek Theatre of Oregon, CoHo Theatre Productions & Gallery, and Readers Theatre Repertory. The month-long event includes everything from the ancient Greeks to modern-day Irish, and in the case of God, a girl from Brooklyn.
“RTR wanted to offer the light side of myth, and this play is just the thing,” says Martin. “It has a bit of everything — a slave revolt, a deus ex machina, and a girl from Brooklyn.”
Cast members include David Berkson, Siobhan Caverly, Jason England, Curtis Hanson, Mary Kadderly, David Loftus, Matthew Martin, Katie O’Grady, Jeffrey Siri, and Ken Springs, among others.
This was the last production of the company’s fifth season, which both RTR and Blackfish Gallery have deemed another success. The gallery’s artist/owners are among the growing audience, and Blackfish is excited about hosting the fifth season there.
