Gifts in Strange Wrappings

On December 10th and 11th, Readers Theater Repertory planed to avoid all holiday sentiment with an evening themed The Fun in Dysfunction, featuring WASP by Steve Martin.

Directed by Jamie Miller, Martin’s tale takes us inside the home of an extremely screwed-up, and thus perfectly “normal,” 1950’s American family. Miller says he loves the play for its honesty. “With mom going slowly bonkers, dad hallucinating heavily, and the two kids crazy in their own way, this is one nuclear family about to explode.” Behind the facade of the ranch home lies chaos, said Miller, “and, because this is Martin, it’s as funny as it is scathing.”
