May 2016-Readers Theatre Repertory Closes its 15th Season With Romulus Linney Powerhouse
This May, Readers Theatre Repertory stages “…the best play ever written about the Vietnam war, bar none” (The Village Voice). “The Love Suicide at the Schofield Barracks” is a searing courtroom drama of war, sacrifice, guilt, and redemption by Romulus Linney, one of our greatest living playwrights.
A routine inquiry into the double suicide of an army general and his wife becomes tinderbox of violently colliding values as America’s role in Vietnam is suddenly put on trial. “Love and Suicide at the Schofield Baracks” is an intense and moving emotional experience, a powerful evocation of the troubled conscience of contemporary America, a stirring call for all of us to actively take responsibility for the moral and political actions of our country.
““The Love Suicide at Schofield Barracks” is directed by Bob Martin; it stars Brian Allard, Brian Burger, David Knell, Tish Maskell, Suzanne Owens-Duval Gary Powell, Ariel Puls , and Josh Rengert.
